Health and Safety at work have always been of key focus in the construction and concrete industry. British Precast is committed to supporting our members to gain the knowledge and confidence to effectively manage different health and safety concerns.

All members of British Precast are committed to reducing harm and have signed the Health and Safety Charter.
The British Precast Health and Safety Steering Group is active in promoting best practice and improvement throughout the industry.
The Safer By Competence scheme initiative champions the principle that all employees and contractors in the sector should move to be provably competent in their roles within a defined timeframe.
It is estimated that 1 in 6 people will experience some form of mental health concern while they are at work, and that 30% to 40% of absences from work are caused by mental health concerns. This area of the British Precast website links to resources relating to mental health and wellbeing for both employees and employers.
Safeprecast, safeprecast.com, and the safeprecast app has been developed with guidance from a working group drawn from the industry and builds on the already successful ‘Safequarry’ and ‘Safer by’ suite of services developed by the Mineral Products Association (MPA).
British Precast holds two Safety and Health Awareness Days annually for our members. These are proved to be an effective means of sharing good practice through both practical demonstrations and formal presentations.
British Precast works closely with the Building Products Delivery Working Group (BPDWG), whose aim is to aid in the development of good practice for loading, transporting and unloading goods for the building products supply industry.
This year we were asked by CHARGE if they could join with us and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in our Leadership “SHAD” day which we held at the Jurys Inn, East Midlands Airport on 28th November.
