MODERN MASONRY ALLIANCE LAUNCH

The Modern Masonry Alliance (MMA) will be launched at 12:00pm as part of the Futurebuild conference and exhibition at Earls Court on February 22nd 2006.

The MMA is a new alliance formed to represent those involved in the manufacture and use of the main structural and façade products used in UK house building. Masonry was used in 90% of new British homes over the last decade. We represent a £2bn building materials sector, and over 150,000 people are employed in the masonry manufacturing and construction process.

The objective of the MMA is to improve the quality, performance and construction efficiency of masonry homes. We passionately believe that communities deserve homes that are durable, adaptable, secure and at an affordable cost. We encourage innovative development, including better quality and improved productivity. Our aim is to position masonry construction as the core modern method of building.

At the launch the MMA will be introducing its response to the Code for Sustainable Homes consultation. The MMA welcomes and supports the Code, but believes that further vital sustainability factors should also be considered.

Following the launch of the MMA is the ‘Innovations in Masonry’ seminar, chaired by Jeff Howell of the Sunday Telegraph. The seminar will cover areas of modern masonry construction including whole systems, flooring, and product innovation.

More information about the seminar or registration can be found by visiting www.futurebuild.co.uk
